The Art Loop: A Love Story in Three Voices - La Gazette #13

Hello friend,

I am back from an insanely hot French summer and sick in bed (different places, same temperature) so while I take care of my health, I thought I would tell you (again) about my theory on Art and why it matters to me, to you and to all of us.

What does it mean to be an artist?

Imagine a love triangle—except it’s a circle. At its points: the artist, the artwork, and the viewer. But this isn’t just a cycle of creation—it’s a cycle of feeling. A pulse that connects individuals to something greater.

The artist is not just a maker but a receptor—a conduit for experience. Standing before a landscape, she absorbs more than just the light and colour. She breathes in its presence, its emotion, its quiet story. The rustling of trees, the solitude of an open horizon, the way the wind carries whispers of something beyond words. She does not simply record the scene—she translates it into feeling, embedding it in the artwork.

Once released into the world, the artwork becomes its own vessel—untethered from explanation, carrying only the essence it holds. When an observer stands before it, something awakens. A memory surfaces; an emotion stirs. Even subconsciously, they connect. Not just with the artist, but with something larger—the shared human experience, the fabric of existence.

In that moment, the loop is complete. The viewer does not simply see the work, they feel seen by it. Nourished by it. As if something fragmented within them has been brought into focus. Art is a bridge, linking souls, binding moments, reminding us that we are not alone, that we are part of something vast yet intimately known. Art teaches us how to see the world around us. it has the power to make our lives richer, not with dollars in the bank but with nourishing beauty.

This is why the artist gives. This is why art matters. This is why the loop continues—so that, through human feeling, we may all reconnect with the whole.
